Fall and Spring Lawn Renovation
Over-seeding
The first step is to verti-cut the lawn by removing the thatch and slicing grooves in the soil for better ‘seed to soil’ contact. In the second step, we mow and bag the lawn to pick up the thatch that was brought up by the verti-cutter, and then we seed the lawn with either blue grass or fescue.
Yard Overhaul
The first step in the process is spraying the lawn either the entire yard, or front or back with a complete kill herbicide (Round Up). After this process (about a week later) Brummel Lawn will come back and seed the yard with a premium seed and fertilizer. The lawn must stay moist for the seed to germinate, fill in and promote good root growth. Brummel Lawn guarantees a green and healthy lawn as long as the home owner follows the direction given to them. Please see Pictures are the process and the completed jobs.
Spot Seeding
Brummel lawn will review your entire yard to identify areas that need new grass seed. We begin by raking areas that need it and applying grass seed. Watering the new seed on a regular bases will guarantee proper growth of the new seed.
Lawn Aeration
Lawn aeration is the secret weapon in making your lawn healthy. Aeration involves making holes in the lawn either by pushing a rod into it or by “coring”, extracting a plug of soil. By aerating your lawn you provide the following benefits to your lawn and its root system:
- Oxygen gets to the roots and the soil allowing it to “breathe”
- Organic fertilizers and nutrients get access to the root system
- Water is able to better soak the soil and reach the root system
- Helps to break up thatch
- Tight, compacted soil is loosened up allowing the root system to grow
Core Aeration
This is done either in the spring or fall. Core Aeration takes plugs to loosen soil that is full of clay and allows more air to the roots. It also can help reduce the amount of thatch and reduce the risk of fungus.
Verti-cuting
The first step is mowing the lawn short, running a verti-cutter over the lawn to remove the thatch. After the thatch is brought to the top Brummel Lawn will mow again and collect the thatch.
